Negombo

Sept. 8th 2017

I have arrived. I am tired. I have been wearing the same knickers for over 24 hrs.
It is 28 degrees, cloudy and humid but not overbearing hot.
I am staying at Alexsandra Guesthouse in Negombo (which is the closest beach resort to Colombo) - about 10km from the main airport. It is owned by a Polish couple but managed by a Sri Lankan family. Everyone is very nice and they keep brining me cups of tea. I'm definitely cool with that.

The main strip in Negombo is super touristy and full of bars/restaurants/tourist offices. As I walked around I keep getting asked if I need a tuk tuk. I try to keep my cool and not go all 'London rude' when in these situations. I just smile and tell people " me from China, me no speak English" in the worst Chinese accent.

Looking for food, all I want is curry and rice. Finally settle on a place and have a really lovely prawn curry and rice which also comes with an assortment of other little dishes- like Indian Thali.  Soo cheap. My meal costs 400 rupee, which is £2.00.
