Galle - day 3

I was invited out by Shaffy to visit his friends in the countryside who are buffalo curd makers. Shaffy was visiting anyway so he said it would be nice to have some company. We got a tuk tuk about 30 mins away and picked up some groceries for the family as it's polite to bring a gift when visiting.

We got to the house and it was small, sweet and simple. It's just a couple who live there and they have a well kept garden and very basic house.

They showed me how to make coconut sambaal and how to prepare arracacha, a root vegetable that I have never heard of before, but I would liken it to a potato.

The food was so good and I am so happy I learnt how to make coconut sambaal. (I wanted to do a cooking class during my time in Sri Lanka but no place would just take one person, so that's a downside to travelling alone I guess)

After we ate fresh pineapple and homemade curd, which was really thick and rich with a hint of saltiness to it. Yummy!

The couple were just so nice and made me feel so welcomed, even though I was a random foreigner in their home.

I'm really glad  I met Shaffy and others in the fort. People have been nothing but hospitable and genuinely wanting to show me around their city. As a single female you need to watch yourself as you're an easy target for men to try to take advantage (trust me, I have met some freaks on this trip - harmless but freaks none the less)
